What The Organic Protein Powder Means To Your Health

For anyone interested in muscle strength and development, such as athletes, bodybuilders and any other regular gym goers, protein powders are part of the staple foods. This powder is known to aid in muscle repair and muscle growth after an intensive training. In addition to muscle building, some of the powders also come with extra benefits such as supplementing the minerals and vitamins. However, there are questions as to whether organic protein powder is just as good as the conventional non-organic varieties or better.

An organically grown food is a food product that is grown from a natural condition. Normally, this should mean the absence of the following inorganic substances; pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, ionizing radiation, genetically modified organisms (GMO), sewage sludge, antibiotics, and any growth hormones. Today, it is difficult to buy anything from the stores that is not produced from one or more of these unnatural and sometimes harmful substances as they cut own cost and time of production.

In order to get a truly natural food, there are three labels to look for. 100% organic label means that the product is 100% natural. It is labeled organic; it should be at least 95% natural. If the label is "made with organic ingredients", then this means that the product is 70% to 95% natural.

The second label is "organic" which implies that the product is at least 95% natural. Lastly, if it is indicated as "made with organic ingredients", then this is an indication that the product is 75% to 95% natural. The product should also contain the USDA Organic label to certify that the product is what it claims to be.

Generally, a milk product sold under any of the three labels should mean that the cow from which the product was produced was fed on natural diets that are completely free of pesticides and are naturally processed. The cows are also traditionally treated and are usually from small family farms and drinks pure and healthy water. As such, the final product is usually gluten-free, sugar-free and is very low in carbohydrates.

Even with this, these products are said to taste better than the conventional options that sometimes taste bitter due to the excessive amount of fake sugar content. The conventional products also have a chalky taste. The natural varieties do not sacrifice quality as they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino-acids.

Other than milk based natural products, there are the raw protein powders that have nothing to do with the cow. The products are plant based and are thus free of dairy products, sugars, gluten, soy, and vegan. They are easier to ingest. They are not heat or processed thus preserves most of the protein. They can however be sweetened with stevia or other natural sweeteners, but not the artificial ones.

The other common varieties are those that are hemp based, brown rice based, vegan (peas, rice, hemp, quinoa and more varieties), and several others. All those are either plant or animal products. As such, it pays to carefully read and select those that are natural as they have more health benefits. The good variety of powder also taste better and are easier to ingest.
