The procedure itself needs just hours to complete and one may be ready to go home a day or two after surgery.

It is important to watch what one eats after they have undergone the surgery. First of all, it is not recommended for one to feed on solid foods for four weeks after the surgery. The first two weeks usually entail only drinking protein drinks. During the third and fourth week of surgery, one can begin feeding on mushy, pureed, and soft foods. One can begin feeding on solid foods after this.
